With the 77th pick in the NFL Draft, the Jets selected Demario Davis, LB, Arkansas State.
Davis will play ILB in the Jets defense and could be a tackling machine in the middle of the field. Davis really shined at the Senior Bowl this year showing great flexibility and fluidity.
Davis can also be a premier coverage linebacker in the NFL, which works very well when the Jets decide to flood the middle of the field with defenders.
The Jets linebackers were getting older, so it makes a lot of sense to try to promote youth at that position. It’s surprising to see the Jets pass up safety and right tackle over and over again.
With LaRon Landry’s injury history and Wayne Hunter’s inefficiency, you’d have to think they’ll try to beef up those positions with their later picks tomorrow.
