Luckily, Santonio Holmes avoided a broken rib, but it does appear that he will not play in the preseason opener against the Bengals. Rex Ryan is hopeful that the Jets will not have to bring in any veterans to take his place.

Sanchez out-shined Tim Tebow in the Green and White scrimmage, which is impressive considering that the Jets were missing three of their five offensive lineman.

Matt Simms had a terrificĀ scrimmage, while the current third quarterback, Greg McElroy, has gotten off to a slow start. There may very well be a legitimate competition for the third quarterback spot after all.

Kicker Josh Brown is pushing Nick Folk hard, but Folk has responded to the pressure. The job is still Folk’s to lose.

Bilal Powell is now getting reps with the first team, which is only a testament to just how impressive he has looked in training camp. He could take away carries from Shonn Greene if he keeps this up.
