With the Bills expected to take small steps forward under a new coaching staff, the Patriots mired in injury and off field issues, and the Jets being, well the Jets, many are anticipating an opportunity for the Dolphins to seize control of the division. Whether or not that happens will be based on a number of factors, but as always the rookie class will be counted on to produce early. Here is a look at what to expect.

2013 NFL Draft: March Madness Big Board

Saturday, March 16th, 2013

Getting closer to April’s draft means the all important Big Board is being fine tuned, tweaked and solidified. It’s the teams’ whose boards determine the landscape of the draft, but us draftniks like to get our opinions out there and sometimes we even out perform those highly compensated experts. Okay so that’s rare but it doesn’t hurt to dream.

I tried to keep the descriptions short and to the point, but let me know how I did.

Around this time of year the fluid draft landscape seems to solidify to a degree. We’ve seen their tape, heard about their intangibles and witnessed their athletic tools at the combine. This year the top spot in the draft is still as unclear as ever, but that’s not the only thing different about the 2013 edition.

There is no sure fire first round quarterback. In a passing league that speaks to how weak the class really is at the NFL’s premier position. Alex Smith was traded for and Brandon Albert was franchised but I still like Joeckel at #1 until I hear another player they’re high on, which should happen in the next few weeks or so.

What separates Dion Jordan from Barkevious Mingo? (Photo: US Presswire)

The more and more we look at this year’s draft class and how is corrolates’ to the Jets’ needs, the more and more it look like the Jets will take an outside linebacker with their ninth-overall selection in April.

Two of the top candidates for the selection are Oragon’s Dion Jordan and LSU’s Barkevious Mingo. Both are similar players from a measurebales standpoint and would both give the Jets’ a much needed dimension of speed and athleticism, so what is it exactly that separates these two as prospects?
