I know, I know. You’re sick and tired of seeing number 6 trot out for the green and white on Sunday afternoons. After leading the league in turnovers on the way to the ugliest six-win season in NFL history, Jets fans are all but chomping at the bit to get a new quarterback in place and hit the restart button.

Still, as tempting as it may be to try out the new toy in Geno Smith, the Jets are better off holding off on the “Geno Project” for the time being.

After Rex Ryan’s decision to bench Mark Sanchez in favor of Greg McElroy in yesterday’s win over Arizona, there will be a much-heated debate in New York as to who the starting quarterback should be for the rest of the season.

McElroy was able to lead the Jets to the go-ahead touchdown when he was put in the game, but he hardly made any spectacular plays in the process. However, McElroy managed the game to perfection and did made just enough plays to come away with the win.

The Jets got a huge win in St. Louis that was desperately needed for the coaches, players, and fans.

After enduring a week of media scrutiny over the anonymously-sourced New York Daily News story, getting a convincing win against a solid St. Louis team was just what the doctor ordered.

Could a Weak QB Class Keep Mark Sanchez Around for Another Season?

Mark Sanchez’s future in New York has gone under fire over the past few weeks for erratic play, and rightfully so. It’s not that the Jets are losing, its how inept their offense has looked in the process.

No one expected the Jets to light up the scoreboard every week like they did in Week 1, but they were a defensive touchdown away from getting their second shutout of the season, which is almost unheard of in the NFL. Even if Sanchez improves from this week foreward, his inconsistency and tendency to make rookie mistakes in his fourth season as a pro is enough for the Jets to cut their losses and try again at the quarterback position.

Usually, franchise quarterbacks are found with the use of high draft picks (which the Jets should own if things continue), but is this the year to be picking a quarterback in the top 10?
