Rex Ryan has finally¬†settled¬†on an offensive coordinator, calling on longtime Eagles coordinator Marty Mornhinweg and his modified version of the West Coast offense to get the Jets’ offense on track.

Mornhinweg is a passing guru, evidenced by the Eagles’ success in the passing game through over the past several years. This is the total opposite of what the recently-fired Tony Sparano was as an offensive line guru. When you consider how bad the Jets offense was last year, doing exactly the opposite of what they have been doing is hardly a bad thing.

Since parting ways with the older, slower version Plaxico Burress, the Jets have placed an emphasis on speed and athleticism at the position (as well as just about every other position).

With a rookie set to start opposite the drama queen that has evolved out of Santonio Holmes, the receiver position should be one of the most interesting position groups to watch in training camp.

Jets Free Agents: Keep ‘Em or Trash ‘Em

Should the Jets keep or trash Braylon Edwards this offseason?

With a new collective bargaining agreement seemingly eminent (*knocks on wood*) the Jets must turn to their salary cap situation which, to be frank, is not great.

The Jets currently have 111 million dollars in cap commitments toward next season, and considering that the salary cap has been decreased to 120 million dollars, it is an imperative for Mike Tannenbaum to showcase financial flexibility in this upcoming offseason. Unfortunately, the Jets also have the least amount of players under contract of any team in the NFL, which adds to the urgency of the situation.
