With Tony Sparano official out as the Jets offensive coordinator, the Jets will spend the next few weeks searching for a viable replacement. After going through two coordinators in four years, this is a decision Rex must get right if the Jets are going to turn the corner and get back in the playoffs.

According to Jake Steinberg of the Jets Blog, the Jets are ready to part ways with incumbent offensive coordinator Tony Sparano and love the idea of replacing him with soon-to-be-fired Chargers coach Norv Turner.

As of right now there are two kickers vying for the Jets starting job, Nick Folk and Josh Brown, who was cut by the Rams. Both Folk and Brown made the top five list of most inaccurate kickers of 2011 with a 75% accuracy for Brown and 76% for Folk respectivly. Brown, coming off his worst statistical season, as he told Jenny Ventras of NJ.com:
“Everything kind of just went sour, and it was time for a change.”
In 2011, Sparano’s Dolphins ranked in the top ten at field goals attempted. Based on that stat alone the Jets need a kicker that can do better than make a third of their kicks. So is drafting a kicker a sound decision?
